Because of our unique location and access to these unique items we are fortunate to still keep these unique items available to collectors of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. This one in particular is a speed skating closing ceremonies woman's jacket.

There was only three USA women Olympic speed skating athletes that participated here in the 1980 speed skating events with with one winning 2 silver Medals (Leah Mueller 500m and 1000m) and one winning bronze (Beth Heiden) the sister of Eric Heiden who won five gold medals in speed skating in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games.

Which one of the three USA Olympians wore this jacket during the closing ceremonies we will probably never know but there is a two in three chance that it belonged to a medal winner. Most of these Olympic athletes were sponsored and living with local people here in Lake Placid during the 1980 Winter Olympics and left numerous items with their sponsors as it would be impossible to travel home with all the attire these athletes were given and that's where we come in bringing you these fantastic items from Lake Placid.
